The magic and mistery of Prince is back with ‘Timeless’. Released on August 28, 2026, the 10-track album brings together rare and previously unreleased material recorded between 1977 and 2016, covering virtually the entire span of Prince’s career. It is the first Prince collection specifically assembled to represent every major period of his musical development.
A Prince Legacy Piece for Nostalgia Adicts
The album includes recordings such as “I Am You,” “Tick Tick Bang,” “Heaven,” “I Wonder,” “With This Tear,” “Stone,” “Calabama,” “The Guilty Ones,” “Bestest Friend” and a live performance of “How Come You Don’t Call Me Anymore?”
The material offers a glimpse into the extraordinary volume and variety of Prince’s creative work. His legendary Vault contains thousands of recordings, including unfinished compositions, alternate versions, live performances and songs that were never formally released during his lifetime.
Timeless was mastered by Chris James, a Grammy-nominated engineer and former Prince collaborator whose work on several posthumous and archival Prince projects has included HITnRUN Phase Two, Art Official Age and Plectrumelectrum.
Rather than representing a single recording period or a previously abandoned Prince album, Timeless functions as a chronological journey through nearly four decades of his creative output. The earliest material dates to 1977, while the final recording comes from 2016, the year of his death.
The release also continues the ongoing effort by the Prince Estate and Legacy Recordings to bring carefully selected material from the Vault to the public. Previous archival projects have focused on specific eras, including the extensive 1999 Super Deluxe Edition, which contained dozens of previously unreleased recordings from the early 1980s.
With Timeless, listeners are presented with a broader view of Prince’s evolution as a songwriter, musician, producer and performer—and another opportunity to hear music that remained outside his official catalog during his lifetime.
The album is available digitally and on physical formats including CD and vinyl, adding another chapter to the posthumous preservation and release of one of the most extensive musical archives in popular music.
