Welcome to my very first interview of one of my favorite new bands. The rising French duo MOUNDRAG officially introduced the world to their second full-length album, DEUX, released October 17, 2025 via Spinda Records and Stolen Body Records. It’s in French with english subtitles. -It’s also dubbed by Youtube but I wouldn’t recommend the english audio track, sounds super weird.
The conversation captures the band’s raw excitement and artistic vision as they lay out what DEUX represents: a deeper, more theatrical step forward from their 2022 debut Hic Sunt Moundrages.MOUNDRAG — an organ-drums powerhouse duo — have built a reputation for hook-laden, uplifting proto-rock that channels 70s hard rock energy through modern progressive and heavy-psych lenses. Through their answers, they describe DEUX as the natural evolution of their sound, written between 2022 and 2024 and recorded at TAF Panoramix Studio.
The title itself (“Deux” = “Two” in French) symbolizes both the duo’s enduring two-person dynamic and the album’s thematic duality: mythology meets dystopian imagery, raw power meets theatrical soundscapes. The nine-track album blends massive riffs, swirling organ lines, thunderous drums, and cinematic storytelling. Standout moments teased in the presentation and supporting releases include:
- Stormdrummer – Explosive opener that sets the tone with pounding rhythms.
- The Caveman – A groove-heavy psych-rock beast.
- Changes – The pre-album single that showcased the band’s refined songwriting and uplifting hooks.
- Take Me To The Stars – Dreamy yet heavy cosmic journey.
- Black Flames, Starkus, Limbo, Morning Epitaph, and Night Lights – Tracks that weave dark, mythological narratives with euphoric, head-banging energy.
The band emphasized that DEUX feels like a “sophomore masterpiece” — bolder, more refined, and unafraid to push their heavy-psych boundaries while staying true to the raw, analog spirit that defined their debut. In the video, they highlight how the album captures their live energy in the studio, delivering nine meticulously crafted songs that feel both timeless and forward-looking. Fans of 70s hard rock, progressive psych, and modern heavy acts that blend groove with atmosphere will find DEUX instantly addictive.
The interview doubles as both an announcement and a celebration, giving viewers a direct window into the band’s mindset as they step into this new chapter.
Full album now streaming on YouTube (official full-album upload and individual track audios are available via the band’s channel), with vinyl and CD available through Spinda Records (Spain/EU) and Stolen Body Records (UK).
